This Quarter's Featured Artist at the Chickasaw Visitor Center is Brent Brander!
Brander is a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation and uses his paintings to encourage discussion amongst audiences. His work is heavily influenced by the concept of yin and yang, and the use of color to represent the union of opposing beliefs. Brander utilizes color to tell the story of each piece, incorporating personal narratives that allow for a more reflective, visual experience.
“As the color masses meet on the horizon, a whole new grouping of colors are created,” said Brander. “As if the two opposing forces or ideas have come together with their differences and created something new and beautiful.”
