Labor Day Weekend in Chickasaw Country

I can’t believe that summer is coming to an end. Good thing we have a three-day weekend coming up to enjoy everything summer. Labor Day is the perfect reason to pack your bags and explore Chickasaw Country. There are quite a few events happening this weekend, let me give you a preview of what to expect.

18th Annual Run Ringling Great Steaks Race
Is anyone in your family preparing for a marathon? This 5K would be the perfect training stop for them. It kicks off at 7:30 a.m. and benefits the Ringling Chamber Scholarship. Did I mention the winners get a rib-eye steak? That should motivate you to the finish line!

Labor Day Celebration
The Chickasaw Cultural Center is celebrating Labor Day all weekend long. This is the perfect place for everyone in your family. There will be indoor and outdoor activities ranging from stickball, stomp dance, storytelling, art exhibits, educational films and more! While you are there, try a bison Indian Taco and some grape dumplings. Your taste buds will thank you.

Loose Caboose Festival
Do you love a good sidewalk sale? This event is for you! Make plans to be in downtown Purcell Saturday morning. There will be vendors lined up and down the sidewalk. You will find art, antiques, crafts, wine tasting and live entertainment. Sounds like a good time to me! While you are in town, swing by Savvy Parke and see what’s new. The owner is constantly posting about sales and new items on Instagram.

PBR at WinStar World Casino and Resort
Does your family want a front row seat to the “Toughest Sport on Dirt?” PBR is coming back to Oklahoma Friday and Saturday night. A little bird told me that tickets are four for the price of one—that’s a steal! Dust off your cowboy boots and get ready to have some fun! All of your favorite PBR stars will be there ready to rock!

Sulphur Downtown Merchants Annual Street Fair
What do you get when you combine shopping, food and live music? You guessed it- the downtown street fair in Sulphur! Grab your gal pals for a day of boutique shopping, local flavors and fun. You can stop by Rusty Nail for a wine tasting and visit the Artesian Hotel Spa. Doesn’t that sound relaxing? Sign me up!
Whatever event you choose, I hope that you are able to enjoy your time in Chickasaw Country. Take this three-day weekend and spend it with the ones you love. The back-to-school season is always stressful, so try and take some time to relax. I hope to see you around!
