April showers bring May – and June – flowers!
This summer, Petal Pushers Farms is the perfect Saturday morning spot. It’s just 30 miles south of Oklahoma City and hundreds of flowers are waiting for you.
Petal Pushers Farms was established in 2017 by native Oklahomans and agriculture lovers Jerí (Jera) and Matt Irby. Years ago, the farm was a dairy farm, but now the Irbys use the same barns and land to grow beautiful flowers, vegetables and herbs for everyone to enjoy. Jerí works for the Oklahoma Forestry Services full time, but her passion is tending the flowers on her farm and creating stunning floral arrangements.
Here’s how it works: Petal Pushers opens on Saturdays during the summer for U-pick days. Because the flowers are grown outside, everything depends on the crazy Oklahoma weather. Follow along on the farm’s Facebook page for the exact u-pick dates. Once you arrive at the farm, you will be given a bucket, and you have free rein to walk through the fields to pick your favorite flowers. Once your bucket is full, you can bring it inside for Jerí to wrap it up with cute paper and a sticker. Don’t worry, you can pay with cash or a card.
Petal Pushers Farm is a great spot for a unique date, a weekend outing with your friends or a fun day on the farm with your kids. If you want to have a fun girls’ trip, consider attending one of the plant workshops at the farm. You can also order arrangements and bouquets for weddings, parties and other events.
Follow Petal Pushers Farms on Facebook to see exactly when U-pick days are available this summer. And, continue to follow along as the farm grows!
We hope you have a great time visiting this one-of-a-kind family farm in south-central Oklahoma. Remember to use #VisitChickasaw when you are posting pictures of your beautiful flowers.
