Spring Break - Chickasaw Country Style

Put down your pencils, kiddos. Professor Jared is here to save the day.

I’ve been there. I remember the stress of the tests and assignments. The seemingly overwhelming task of trudging across campus to class before 10:00 a.m.

Then, you see it.

A month out.

Two weeks out.

One week.

The burden of academia is suddenly lifted from your shoulders as you sprint toward the oasis of rest and relaxation that is known by those two simple words: SPRING BREAK.

That’s right, #SB2017 is upon us, and there’s something for everyone (not just you college kids) right here in Chickasaw Country! I’ve highlighted some of the top spots in the area, broken down by the type of spring breaker you are: foodie, explorer, social butterfly, shopper or golfer.

SPRING BREAK FOR THE FOODIE

Eat your feelings this spring break. With several fine-dining options in Chickasaw Country, you might just find your new comfort food!

Baron of Beef

This is the place to go if you’re looking for meat. Located inside the exquisite Echo Canyon Spa Resort in Sulphur, you will enjoy a trifecta of succulent meats ranging from prime center cut rib eyes to Alaskan King Crab, served via a four-course culinary journey at your private, candlelit table overlooking Echo Canyon.

Giuseppe’s

Your very own slice of Little Italy right here in the heart of Chickasaw Country. Nestled inside the historic 1911 State National Bank building in downtown Marlow, you’ll be pleased with the authentic aesthetics and traditional Italian dishes like chicken cacciatore or osso bucco.

SPRING BREAK FOR THE EXPLORER

Get out and smell the roses (and buffalo grass)!

Blue River

Grab your tackle box and head down to the river bank! The Blue River is known for its superb rainbow trout fishing. Don’t have a rod and reel? I suggest giving noodling a try!

Chickasaw National Recreation Area

Lose yourself (not literally) on more than 30 miles of hiking trails located inside the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Pack a tent and experience one of the six campgrounds in the area! Or, rent at bike at the Chickasaw Visitor Center and pedal your way through the area.

SPRING BREAK FOR THE SOCIAL BUTTERFLY

What’s spring break without friends and a good time?

Lake Texoma

Grab your buddies and head down to Lake Texoma for fun and sun! The state’s second largest lake has virtually any amenity you need to enjoy yourselves.

Lazer Zone Family Fun Center

With 3D black light mini golf, bowling and a two-story lazer tag arena, you won’t soon forget the fun you had at Lazer Zone in Ada!

SPRING BREAK FOR THE SHOPPER

Two words: Retail Therapy.

The Mix Mercantile

Outfit the entire family in unique boutique items at the Mix Mercantile in downtown Sulphur! From hand-crafted furniture to one-of-a-kind apparel and gifts, you won’t go home empty-handed!

Steel Velvet

Whether you bleed orange and black or crimson and cream, Steel Velvet is the place to go to show your true colors!  You’ll find everything you need to step up your style game right here in Chickasha. Don’t forget the popcorn bar!

SPRING BREAK FOR THE GOLFER

Grab those hickory sticks and let’s see how many golf balls we can lose!

WinStar Golf Club

With 36 holes of pure bliss is what you’ll find at WinStar Golf Club. With five sets of tees, immaculate greens and state-of-the-art golf carts (complete with ceiling fans and USB plugs!!!), you’ll be sitting in the lap of luxury on the banks of the Red River!

Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club

7,085 yards of lush paradise await when you visit the Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club in Kingston. Enjoy beautiful views of Lake Texoma while you tee it up and grab a delicious patty melt from the Grill at the turn.

Whether you’re swinging the sticks, filling the shopping bags or going on a culinary exploration, you’re bound to have a spring break to remember right here in Chickasaw Country! Make sure you take photos and tag us! Use #RouteCC and we might even feature you on our Twitter and Instagram!

Happy spring break!
